Uncertain times

Yesterday I just had to get out of the house. Out of the way of my husband and my kids, I love them dearly but sometimes I need just a little bit of space. The hubster has been poorly for the last few months (actually there has rarely been a time in the 4 1/2 yrs we've been together that he's been fit and healthy) this time it's his gallbladder and it needs removing. Tuesday should have been the day for this but a few hours before he was due in, the hospital called to cancel due to lack of a bed. GREAT disappointment ensued! The good news is that after originally being told it would be another 6 weeks before they could have him in, he's now been given the 23rd October.  Yay!! This is only 6 days before my middle and youngest daughters birthdays though so I hope and pray the operation goes to plan.
So that being my biggest issue at the moment as well as the security of my job being in the balance after Christmas and the fact that Mary, Mae & Ava hasn't even managed to get started after a year I've been feeling rather wobbly and sorry for myself.

And then I speak with 2 friends, 2 very special women that at the moment are both going through their own kind of hell, and my heart feels so very heavy for both of them. I so wish that I could help them. (Know that if I can, I will, so please ask)
I hope they both find the strength and clarity they need to get through these tough times and can make decisions that are right for them and their families.

This morning my worries seem a lot easier to deal with than they did yesterday morning. I believe everything happens for a reason even if we can't see what that reason is.

The geese are on!!

I am still loving the challenges the Marcelle medallion is throwing my way. Especially the 2 days trying to decide what fabric to use for a border. Anyhow I finally made my decision and got it on fast! Here it is so far! Linking up with Penny's blog again.

Progress of my Marcelle Medallion.

Hi all!

So if I'm honest, I'm only posting progress of my marcelle medallion in the hope I can link up to the quilt-a-long. I am about ready to pull my hair out mind you. Technology is not my friend!
Here goes!

A quilt-a-long

So last week I jumped on the Marcelle Medallion quilt-a-long that Penny has started.  This is bringing so many 'firsts' for me.

#1 I have never joined in with a quilt-a-long before.

#2 I have never paper pieced before (not that you have to for this quilt but a lovely lady over on IG kindly shared with me the template she had made)

#3 So many other patchwork techniques I have never tried (triangles, flying geese)

#4 I am actually blogging about it. (Not that I'm sure it will work)

#5 I'm hoping to link up my progress with Penny 's blog. (Again, only if I'm lucky)

I've completed the main star and have got my triangles cut out ready for border two. I'm actually diving into my beloved AMH field study without hesitation here as I know this quilt is worthy of it. I've used a tiny bit of Amy Butler so far and will be using some Joel Dewberry too, along with some KF shot cotton to calm all those prints down.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can do justice to the pattern and fabric and I'm loving all the challenges it's giving me. Who knows there might be another Marcelle in the future!? No doubt with my mother's name on it!

Please forgive the layout of this blog post. I have no idea what it will look like and I'm currently sat on my girls bedroom floor trying to post from my phone.

Until next time, take care and happy sewing!

Welcome

First up, hello and welcome!!

Secondly, arggghhhhhh!!!! I currently have no idea of how all this blogging stuff works, sure I have many favourite blogs bookmarked that I love to catch up with but that is as far as my knowledge goes. So as usual, I thought I'd dip my toe into the great unknown and try to teach myself.  I apologize now for rubbish photos (my phone is the best camera I own) and I can't promise tutorials (due to lack of a decent camera and knowledge of how to upload all that shizzle) oh and my poor spelling and grammar,  English wasn't one of my best subjectd at school.

What can I promise you??? Hmmm, ask me again in a few months! It may involve my crafty projects, my kids, me pulling my very grey hair out due to said topics! And food! Can't forget the food!

Next post I'll try to fill you in on story so far and introduce myself a little better.
